Explore Launceston
Launceston — or Launnie as we locals call it — is the heart of Northern Tassie. One of Australia's oldest cities, it's packed with heritage, great food, local wine, culture and nightlife, with the spectacular Cataract Gorge right on its doorstep. There's plenty to discover here, and most of it is easy to explore on foot.
But one of the best things about Launnie is where it can take you. Head north into the Tamar Valley and its world-class wine region, east towards Derby, Bridport and the Bay of Fires, south to Ben Lomond, or west through the Meander Valley and Great Western Tiers to Cradle Mountain.
Whether Launnie is your destination or your base for a bigger Tassie adventure, you're perfectly placed to experience some of the very best of the island.
